The difference between Xiaomi MIUI ROMs: Developer, Stable > China, Global, Distributor – Many Indonesian Mi fans are asking questions about these types of Xiaomi ROMs such as their advantages and disadvantages, especially those who are still using Distributor ROMs who want to move from the rom to Stable or Developer , what are the shortcomings of this China Stable ROM etc., there are indeed many like that.
We already know that Xiaomi has a very attractive UI called MIUI and is a bit like the UI of iOS from Apple.
A little explanation about MIUI, the MIUI that is read (Mi-yu-ai) is a firmware which is arguably a third-party Custom ROM based on the Android operating system, and this MIUI was developed by Xiaomi until now, it continues to update. not much different like the TouchWiz UI owned by Samsung or iOS owned by Apple, each has its own features.
Back to the discussion of the differences in this MIUI ROM. There are 3 types which I will explain with several different types, namely:
- Stable ROM > China and Global
- ROM Developers > China and Global
- Distributor
1 Stable ROM
Stable rom developed by the official MIUI developer recruited by Xiaomi. This ROM is updated usually 3 weeks – a few months because this ROM is stable so that means every new release must be really stable with minimal bugs and problems, I recommend using this Stable ROM. The characteristics of this ROM have 4 series of numbers (example v8.1.1.0) and this stable ROM has 2 types, namely:
Stable China
ROMs that are intended for those in China do not have Google apps services because there are rarely those who use products from Google, but we can calmly install them, the characteristics are:
- There are no Google Apps like Play Store, Gmail, Google Maps (Can be installed) for tutorial, click here
- No Indonesian, English and Chinese available
- Always update
- More Stable Rarely have problems (I myself enjoy using Chinese roms)
- No Bloatware
Stable China Advantages and Disadvantages
+ Battery no problem normal and economical (according to personal)
+ The problem of the 4G network for this ROM is 100% safe, not lost
+ Minimal Problems
– No Indonesian
– Many Chinese applications (not bloatware if you are rooted can be uninstalled)
Global Stable
Unlike China, this ROM is designated by international users who definitely use Google products, this ROM has Google Apps available
- Already available Google Apps, Play Store and others
- Multi-language available including Bahasa. Indonesia
- Always update
- More Stable
- No Bloatware
Stable China Advantages and Disadvantages
+ Indonesian language already available
+ No need to bother installing GApps
– Often there are problems on the network, for example 4G is lost due to country rules too
2. Developer ROM
Same with stable ROM, this is managed by Authorized Developers, and what is different is the features that are not in the stable and for the release of the latest updates it can be once a week. with very regular updates can be caused by fixing bugs. and to Unlock Bootloader, you have to be a Chinese developer, you know. oh yes Dev ROM usually has 3 series of sample numbers (MIUI8 7.1.9). there are 2 types namely
Chinese Developer
- No Indonesian
- No GApps
- Very regular updates
- It's more stable, sometimes every update you get has a bug, but don't worry, this Dev ROM is updated regularly, definitely FIX
- Additional features not present in Stable
Weaknesses and Strengths of Chinese Developers
+ Request for Unlock Bootloader must be a Chinese Developer
+ latest features
+ Secure 4G network
– No Indonesian
Global Developer
- Already available in Indonesian
- GApps available
- Very regular updates
- It's more stable, sometimes every update you get has a bug, but don't worry, this Dev ROM is updated regularly, definitely FIX
- Additional features not present in Stable
Global Developer Disadvantages and Strengths
+ There is already Indonesian
+ Latest features
– Usually 4G network is lost in all Global ROMs
3. Distributors
Official ROM modified by a person who cares about his personal, Why do I say that? because they insert advertisements and they also get a hefty advantage and disadvantage for Xiaomi users, but distinguishing between them is quite easy for an explanation check below.
- Inject ads that can consume power resources: battery or performance itself
- Will not get updates (one example of a distribution rom)
- Usually there is already an Indonesian ROM (but this is not the standard ROM Distri)
Deficiency
– Waste of battery
- Unstable
- Hot
– Waste of quota
As for Tips to distinguish MIUI ROM Version
- Stable ROM has Miui Version 4 Number Series (Example: MIUI8 8.0.7.0 LHOCNDG)
- ROM Developer has Miui Version 3 Number Series (Example: MIUI8 7.1.9)
- The Miui Distributor ROM version also differs by more than 4 (Example: 7.9.1.2.3.4) and this can also be a benchmark to distinguish it from the Official Stable
For the code after this number, the explanation is
- MIUI8 8.0.7.0 LHOCNDG > Android operating system used L means Lollipop
- MIUI8 v8.1.2.0 MHOCNDI> The Android operating system used M means MarrshMallow
My Suggestions and Conclusions
Choose a ROM according to your needs, for example, I used the Dev ROM only 1 time only to Unlock the Bootloader, after that I went back to Stable because I had a minimal quota, different from Developers who update very regularly but the size is not big, it can be 30MB-300MB. If you are an operator and like new features choose Developer. and it's not recommended that you stay in the Distributor ROM
